William Francis Taylor
Although born in Canada, William Francis Taylor (1883-1970) moved to Lumberville under the influence of his friend William Lathrop around 1925 and is considered one of the New Hope School of Pennsylvania Impressionists. He studied in New York City at the Art Students League from 1905 to 1907 and John Sloan was one of his teachers.
In 1928 he headed the Subscription Committee to purchase Phillips Mill as an exhibition space for Bucks County artists. He published a history of Phillips Mill in 1963.
His work is in the Michener Museum, the Corcoran Gallery and the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York amongst others.
